This Letter was sent this morning, by email, to the members of the Israeli Parliament’s Committee for Defence and Foreign Affairs. I’d appreciate it if you would contact your legislator and do the right thing.
Respected Parliament Members,
I am writing to you as a concerned citizen and as a part of the “Black Labor” Initiative for direct contact between elected officials and citizens.
While we reside securely in Zion, abhorrent acts are taking place in Myanmar (formerly known as Burma), A country who Israel has diplomatic relations with. As you read this email, Citizens are being shot while they protest to exercise their basic rights and call for democracy. The Myanmar Government Blocks all Internet access from its residents and denies us decent disclosure about the situation, including the casualties and means taken against dissidents.
Israel is a state which is meant to portray the humane moral, as derived from the Halakha and the Jewish tradition that was established on the ruins of deprivation of Human Rights during the Holocaust.
I call you, my elected officials, to call to withdraw the Israeli Embassy from Myanmar and to officially condemn Myanmar’s actions.
I call you, as elected officials, to act in order to provide humanitarian aid to citizens in peril and denounce violent activity using the UN Assembly and Security Council.
Truly Yours,
Jonathan J. Klinger,
Tel Aviv.
